Ocean Conservation
We live on a blue planet, with the ocean covering more than 70% of the earth’s surface. The ocean nurtures us, not only providing us with abundant fishery resources and opportunities for the development of tourism and shipping industries but also regulating the climate to produce a large amount of oxygen necessary for our survival. The ocean is the basis of our economic development, but due to unreasonable human exploitation, the ecological situation has gradually deteriorated. Garbage entering the ocean, heavy metal pollution, and overfishing of marine life have led to an increasingly imbalanced marine ecology. With the frequent occurrence of marine natural disasters, the ocean is sending out silent protests to human beings. Marine ecology and biodiversity are closely related to human survival and well-being, and all kinds of unreasonable ecological destruction acts will eventually backfire on human beings themselves.
IEC is working to prevent environment and deter environmentally destructive behaviors, avoid marine pollution and overfishing, and strive for a vibrant marine ecology through experience sharing, technical support, and policy advocacy. It advocates the creation of marine protected areas to safeguard endangered marine species, focuses on maintaining and restoring marine ecosystems, and assists regions in establishing scientific marine management systems to purify marine space.
